My name is Eldon Bensen, the new Chief Professional Officer for the Boys Club of Sioux City. My wife, Katie, and I are both Siouxland natives and very excited to be home and close to our family. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first month at the Boys Club and I am honored to serve this great organization. My most recent experience was working as a Unit Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa in Des Moines. I also served as the Director of the Boys and Girls Club in Sioux Falls.
Being associated with the Boys and Girls Clubs prior to coming to Sioux City, I am well aware of the incredible impact the Boys Club has had and continues to have on the youth in Siouxland. For over 75 years, the Boys Club has served the boys of Sioux City with compassion and integrity. With caring staff and volunteers facilitating evidence-based national and local programming, the Boys Club is able to better serve the youth of Siouxland.
Being a chartered member of Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), Boys Club has a distinct advantage over many youth serving organizations. With over 4,000 clubs nationwide, Boys Club is part of a national movement to help young people reach their full potential as responsible, caring, and productive citizens. Through national, regional, and local partnerships, clubs have the power to reach more youth at a fraction of the cost to families they serve.
The Boys Club offers a safe place, warm meals, and opportunities that many boys would not otherwise have for only $10 a year. With the much appreciated generosity of our local foundations, funding partners, corporate sponsors, other agencies, and individual donors, we are able to deliver our promise to serve the boys of our great city. Boys Club will continue to look at new opportunities to offer the youth of Siouxland while staying focused on our vision and mission.
I feel truly blessed to have an opportunity to serve such an incredible organization. I hope to meet many of you over the coming year. If you have not had a chance to tour the Boys Club, please feel free to call and set-up a time to come check out how we are changing and saving the lives of many boys in Siouxland.
