Citizen of the Month
The Boys Club of Sioux City’s premier recognition program for Club Members.

As a youth development organization, the Boys Club of Sioux City encourages all of our members to be productive citizens in the community by promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and leadership.

The Citizen of the Month Award is a way to teach, encourage and recognize our Members for displaying good character and service. The Citizen of the Month program focuses on six core values which we call the Six Pillars:

  1. Trustworthiness (January, July)
  2. Respect (February, August)
  3. Responsibility (March, September)
  4. Fairness (April, October)
  5. Caring (May, November)
  6. Citizenship (June, December)

Each month, the Club will focus on one of the Six Character Pillars. Members will be taught and given examples on how to best achieve that characteristic.  The staff will then vote on the Citizen of the Month based on who best displays the Pillar of the Month.

Service and Leadership Opportunities
Club members will also have the opportunity to build their self-esteem and recognize the value of others through a variety of leadership programs, including the Keystone Club, New Horizons, the Torch Club and by learning and practicing the six character pillars. These leadership programs offer many opportunities to give back including: park cleanups; helping local non-profits; fundraising for the needy; beautification projects at the Club; as well as hosting activities for all members.
