[Sioux City, IA February 13, 2015]  –  Boys Club of Sioux City Presents Youth of the Year Award

SIOUX CITY | The Boys Club of Sioux City presented the 2015 Youth of the Year award to Tyrek Young at the Marina Inn on Friday, February 13, 2015. The Boys Club Youth of the Year award is the highest honor a member can receive from the Boys Club. Four candidates were nominated by the staff to compete for the Youth of the Year award. Candidates must be prior Citizen of the Month award recipients; submit three essays and present a three minute speech about their Club experience to a panel of judges comprised of leaders representing businesses and colleges from around Siouxland.

After the judging is complete all of the candidates are escorted by a stretch SUV and provided an afternoon of entertainment including a special trip to the City Council Chamber and a game of laser tag.

We are very proud of all of our candidates. They are all shining examples of what our youth can accomplish if they are supported and dedicated to accomplishing their dreams! All three candidates will head to Des Moines on March 18 where they will support Tyrek as he competes for the Boys and Girls Club State Youth of the Year!!

As a youth development organization, the Boys Club of Sioux City encourages all of our members to be productive citizens in the community by promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and leadership.
